Traveling in the holiday weather

More to think about while traveling in the winter is the time spent in the vehicle. It is wise to stop about every hour to get out and walk around for a few minutes. Get the blood flowing in the legs again. Do not stay out in the wind and snow any longer than necessary. Be very careful if you are on a roadway that you don’t get in the traffic. Take care where you are walking too. Ice is a big factor in the winter.

More about snacks to take with you. Crackers, cookies and even cereal is a good choice. Candy bars and hard candy will give your body energy. You will also need something to drink. Carry extra bottles of water, fruit juice and even some soft drinks.

It sounds like a lot to do when getting ready to travel, but if you keep your car stocked up as you travel in the summer it will not take a lot of effort now in the winter.

If you become disabled with out the motor running you need a way to keep warm. I would suggest getting the emergency foil blankets for each person. They are inexpensive and very warm when you need it. It may just save your life.  You can get these from WalMart for about $1.50.
